But Did You Ask?

“...sometimes, God heals because we’ve asked Him to. Sometimes, our faith is a reason for the healing God does.”

“O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” Psalm 30:2 ESV
Mom friend, God can do big things in your life. God has the ability to heal your body, heal any hurt, any heartbreak, any grief, physically, emotionally, mentally. He heals us in ways we don’t understand and ways we don’t even know we need. Our God can quite literally fix anything He wants to fix.
We see all throughout scriptures stories of healing in one capacity or another, for a multitude of reasons. God heals for His own glory, His own purpose, reasons we can’t comprehend or, sometimes, even recognize. Turn to any page in the Gospels, and you’ll likely land on a story of Jesus healing someone out of compassion.
And, sometimes, it’s because of faith.
Recently, I found myself in a season where I hadn’t been seeing God show up in my life a lot. I knew He was there, I had spent time praying, I read the Bible, but I just wasn’t seeing any movement. I knew something was missing. Someone very wise directed me to James 4:2, “...you do not have, because you do not ask.”
When was the last time I cried out to God for help? Before that moment, I couldn’t tell you. I’ve seen Him move and heal in the lives of those around me, in situations I had even prayed for, but in my own life I had gotten to this place where my faith was lacking.
I needed this reminder that sometimes, God heals because we’ve asked Him to. Sometimes, our faith is a reason for the healing God does. In Mark 9 you’ll find a story of Jesus healing in response to a man’s faith, and in Luke 8 you’ll find a story of a woman being healed because her faith was so strong she knew all she needed to do was touch the hem of His garment.
Mama, I don’t know what healing you need, what healing God plans to do in your life, but I do know this. You should always cry out for help. Believe God will do what He says He will do, He is our God of healing, He is kind, compassionate, and He loves you so much.
Action Steps:
What healing do you need? It might not be something physical. It might be a past hurt, a lie you believe, a mental stronghold like anxiety… the list could go on. Write it down. Write out a prayer, crying out to God. Keep this prayer in a place where you can go back to it often. And, seriously, go back to it often.
Use your seasons of need as opportunities to cry out to and depend on God. Recognize that, yes, you need healing, but until then, God is there for you in your need.
