“As my confidence in God grows, my kids' confidence in Him grows stronger too.”

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” Jeremiah 17:7 NLT
When our children are young, we kiss their booboos, help them get dressed, and try to keep them healthy and happy. As they grow, they become more independent, and we hope they have grown confident in their own abilities. It’s our job as their mommas to raise them into strong, loving and confident adults.
As I am currently in a new season of motherhood, my daughter being almost a teenager, let me just say “whew!!!” It’s a rollercoaster of emotions. Every day is a new lesson for me and her. But I can’t treat her feelings and hurts the same way I did just a few years ago, because she is dealing with bigger issues that I don’t know anything about. When she is really struggling with something, I go to the Bible and look up scriptures that will guide me, and her, through this season. And then I pray that God will guide my words and actions to help her through this new situation.
Going to God through His Word and prayer gives me the confidence, a godly confidence, to approach her and the problem. As my confidence in God grows, my kids' confidence in Him grows stronger too.
Look at the lives of David, Esther, and Daniel. Their godly confidence, determination and humility proves to us that God’s promises for us will help us triumph over all the obstacles in our way.
Action Steps:
If you lead your children by example, their godly confidence will grow. Surround your children with godly people who seek wisdom and help from God when needed.
I’m a big believer in doing devotions as a family. It’s a great time to gather together and read more into God's word. A time to listen to each other's hopes and fears, and talk them out.
Teach your kids not to compare themselves with the world. As Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” When they have confidence in God, they will have confidence in who they are meant to be.
Pray every day with your kids. Pray before school, before bed, when they are sick, hurt, or life is just not going their way. Then rejoice with them when those prayers get answered. And remember Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Prayer: God, we pray for each momma today who is raising their children in Your word. God, we pray that our children will tune into the Holy Spirit's voice and confidently follow it. Let our voices be heard over the noise of this world, and that they know Your love is stronger and more powerful than any weapon formed against them. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to show Your love to our children every day. Let Your light shine brightly through them. In Jesus name, Amen
