Dedicate Them to God

“Let’s bless our kids this school year the way that Hannah blessed Samuel…by remembering that our kiddos are first the Lord's, and then, a gift to us.”

“‘I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the lord.’ And she worshiped the lord there.” 1 Samuel 1:27-28

New school years can be met with a whole host of emotions for a momma, amiright? Our family has done a mixture of homeschool and public over the years (we currently have our kids split both ways) and both come with excitement and concern. But both, also, can be blessed with the purposes and presence of the Lord and THAT can bring us purpose and peace. It all rests in the prayers we pray.

Let’s bless our kids this school year the way that Hannah blessed Samuel…by remembering that our kiddos are first the Lord's, and then, a gift to us. Let’s start with hearts that dedicate our children back to the faithful hands and plans of the Lord. His plans are good, for His glory, and their benefit, so let’s dedicate their year at school year back to His capable hands.

Let’s bless them with a solid friend in the faith so they can hold each other accountable.

Let’s bless their interactions with the wisdom of God and the moving of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s bless their school year with God ordained encounters and the Holy Spirit's leading.

Let’s bless their year with bold faith that not only encourages others towards Jesus, but solidifies their own spirits.

And let me bless your mama heart with peace where there is anxiousness, with God's favor where there are IEPs to sort out, with wisdom for the trials that come, and peace over your home as a place everyone comes to belong. The school year ahead is full of God's possibilities, plans and blessings, may we pray them and set our eyes to see them.

Action steps:

  • Chat with each kiddo, asking them how their heart is and how they feel about this coming year.

  • Write a prayer plan, with your kiddos involved, so that they feel peace in knowing they are covered and enabled to see God's hand as He answers.

Prayer:Father, You are faithful. We know that You see the end from the beginning, and You are already there in all our kids’ moments. We ask that You hem them in from all sides. We bless them to walk in Your favor and pray Your spirit would be heavy on them this year, for their good, and Your glory. In Jesus precious name.
