Fighting the Battles

We fight through prayer, surrender, worship, faith and trust. We fight with the confidence that the One leading the charge has already won.”

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.” 2 Corinthians 10:3 (NLT)

Battles. We all have either had them, are currently going through one, or will go through one in the future. Battles in our life are inevitable. They are going to happen because we are living in a sinful world and there is a spiritual battle going on. A battle for your soul, and your families too.

My most recent battle felt different from others I’ve been through. I knew exactly what this one was, and why it was happening. Yet, knowing that didn’t take away the pain. This one seemed to continue - like there was no end in sight. There were glimpses of light, making me think it was ending, but then that light would abruptly disappear.

Another thing that was different about this one was the way I had to battle. This one, I knew I couldn’t handle on my own. There was absolutely nothing that I could do to fix or change the circumstances. I had to fight this battle differently than I had others. I had to fight it the way I knew every battle should be fought, but I’d been just too stubborn to do it.

This battle wasn’t one I could fight - and let me tell you, if I had tried to fight on my own, I would have been defeated. But God.

Because of who God is, we have weapons that can be used for defeat. We have the tools to fight. But the key is to fight with God at the forefront. Leading the charge. God had to be the one fighting for me. I had to lean into Him and His strength. He was the one I ran to, laid my battle at His feet, and allowed Him to fight. I had to trust. I had to surrender. I had to go to Him consistently in prayer. I had to allow Him to work through the battle…not just take the battle away. I had to let Him use me the way He desired.

Friends - I don’t want any of you to have to go through battles. They are so tough! Yet the fact of the matter is we all will. Our husbands will. Our kids will. We have to learn and teach how to fight those battles. We fight through prayer, surrender, worship, faith and trust. We fight with the confidence that the One leading the charge, has already won. The One leading the charge knows all and will work everything for His good. We won’t be abandoned in the battle. We will be fought for, and we will be victorious.

Fight your battles in complete surrender to the only One who is strong enough to get you through it. He will surround you and protect you. Allow Him to be with you through the battles. He won’t lose.

Action Step:

  • Listen to the song “See a Victory & Surrounded” by Elevation Worship. This is a long version, but take the time to truly listen to the words as you worship through the battle.

Prayer: God, thank You for being with me through the battles. Thank You for fighting my battles for me. I pray that in each and every battle that comes my way, I fight with You. That I allow You to go before me and lead the way. That I surrender it all to You and allow You to work. Thank You for fighting for me and surrounding me with Your love. I love You, Lord. Amen.
