“My job is to raise them to know God and have a relationship with Him. He will do the rest.”

O Lord, you have searched me and known me! Psalm 139:1 ESV
Have you ever watched your child do something they aren’t supposed to, and they deny they did it when confronted? You might say something like “I know you did that because I know you better than you know yourself, and I watched you do it!” I know I have many times. Though I also find myself thinking I really don’t know them at all! Sometimes I watch my children and I think “what was their thought process on this?” I often find myself wondering what they’re thinking, I mean, REALLY thinking.
God knows though, He knows our thoughts before we speak them and our actions before we do them. As a mom I often struggle with the thought of anyone else knowing what’s best for my child, but I have to trust that God’s got my kiddos just as good as He has me! I’ve learned through my walk with Christ over the past 3 years that there are times when my job as their mom is to just let them be and let God take control. My job is to raise them to know God and have a relationship with Him. He will do the rest. He knows them better than I do.
Action Steps:
Pray- one of the things I find myself doing more as I struggle with pre-teen/teen moods is praying prayers of guidance and peace for them as they start to navigate new seasons of life, while also trying to co-exist with my children peacefully.
Ask your kiddos what God is teaching them. My youngest recently started “Home Assignments” from church that have helped him be more engaged in growing his relationship with God.
Prayer: God, be with us mommas who are raising our kiddos to have Christ in their hearts and lives. Guide them as they navigate the storms culture throws at them. In Jesus name, Amen
