“Here’s the reality - I am no better. I am broken, in need of a Savior.”

“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” Matthew 7:3
I’m going to be vulnerable and expose an ugly part of myself – I judge others. I don’t want to judge others. As a matter of fact, I try hard not to judge others. However, it’s my natural bend – it’s a highlight of my brokenness. Judging others is an act I constantly have to be on guard for and fight against by using God’s word.
Can you relate?
As moms, it is so easy for us to judge each other over parenting styles, children’s behavior, appearance, lifestyle, and the list goes on!
She doesn’t discipline her kids enough.
Only if she followed a strict schedule.
She feeds her kids too much sugar.
Why would she dress her kids in that outfit?
She’s constantly on the go and on her phone.
She allowed her kids to do what!?
Do you know what happens to my heart and mind when I judge others? My heart begins to swell up with pride. My mind begins to believe I’m better than the person I’m judging. Here’s the reality - I am no better. I am broken, in need of a Savior.
God commands us to look inward before judging outward. Why does He command this? I think it’s because looking inward exposes us to our own faults. It softens our heart and compels us to extend grace instead of judgment.
I recently heard the phrase, “can’t throw stones while washing feet”.
Moms, let’s work on this together! Let’s start serving instead of judging.
Action Steps:
Read an incredible story in John 7:53 – 8:11
Check your own heart. Have you been intentionally or unintentionally judging someone? Ask God for forgiveness and do something to show love towards that individual.
