"As moms, we’re called to raise up our kiddos to have a thriving relationship with God.”

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it.” 2 Timothy 3:14 ESV
We’re influenced by so many things in this big world: culture, social media, family, our community. Every single one of us every single day is being influenced, whether we consciously recognize it or not.
As moms, we’re called to raise up our kiddos to have a thriving relationship with God. And as such, it’s all the more imperative that we stay vigilant as to what we’re allowing our momming (totally not a made up word) to be influenced by.
Are the people/things/social media accounts/friends in our lives raising us up? Encouraging us? Pointing us back to Jesus? Or do they leave us feeling less than? Empty? Not good enough? Steer us away from God?
2 Timothy 3:14 says, “…continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it.”
Mommas, we know the real truths that we should be modeling our momming (still definitely a real word) around. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Ask yourself: are the things you’re influenced by emulating the Fruits of the Spirit?
Action Steps:
Reflect: jot down who and what most influences your momming. Are these things guiding you toward being a godly momma? What messages are these people and things sending? Are they messages Jesus would say to you? Do they reflect the Fruits of the Spirit?
Prayer: God, I thank You for this incredible community of moms. I pray that You open our eyes to who and what we allow our mothering to be influenced and formed by. Raising our kids to know, love, and worship You is our calling and I pray that we always remember that truth. I ask You to help us discern between the positive and negative influences surrounding us, and to give us clear eyes and open hearts that are ready to do Your will. We love You, God, and we thank You for giving us these sweet kiddos to raise. In Your name, Amen.
