Motherly Directions

“God will always show us a better way to walk in than we could ever find for ourselves or our children, and honestly, I’m okay with that.”

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As mothers, we’re constantly guiding our children in what’s right, and what they should do. We have our own plan for raising them, a certain way we hope they act and, maybe even a vision for the path we’d like their lives to take. From telling them not to put dirt in their mouths, to giving them relationship advice, moms are a well of knowledge for children who are still learning what it means to be a human.

How blessed we are that us moms have someone to go to when we need direction. I’m not talking about our own moms here on earth, although maybe your mom or grandma give great advice. In Isaiah, we are reminded that when we need advice, God will be there, whispering guidance to us.

Just like our plan for our children, God has a plan for us. Except His plan is better than all the plans we or our mothers have made. God has a purpose for us, and if we allow Him to, this verse in Isaiah tells us that God will direct us in which way to go.

God will always show us a better way to walk in than we could ever find for ourselves or our children, and honestly, I’m okay with that.

Action Steps:

  • Is there a situation right now that you need direction for? Have you gone to your spiritual mother, God, for your next steps?

  • Don’t forget about the physical gift God has given us, that we can access any time for direction, the Bible. Mom friend, I encourage you to read the Bible as much as you can fit into your busy schedule. Prioritize it, knowing that reading your Bible is an investment into your mothering.

Prayer: God, thank You for mothering us so well. Thank You for having a plan for us, and a purpose for us. I ask that You guide us, that we will hear Your voice behind us telling us which way to go. Thank you for loving us so well. Amen
