“He wants for us to reflect Him to those in the world. To be like Christ. That includes rest!”

“That’s where he restored and renews my life. He opens before me the right path and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to his name.” Psalm 23:3 TPT
Rest.
Restore.
Lead.
Repeat.
It all sounds so easy. So simple. Life seems like it’s throwing us curveballs all around, yet somehow we are still standing. We may have some bumps and bruises or even some more “severe injuries”. But we serve a God, THE God, who so lovingly wants us, every day, to return to Him for rest. He wants us to stop, take a moment, take many moments, just to rest in His love and presence. There He can restore.
In my Bible, in the notes area at the bottom of the page, it says, “So often life drains out of us through our many activities, but, David found, God restores our well-being when we pursue what pleases God and when we rest in Him.” Let’s think about it. God created us in His image. We are constantly doing, creating and working, but we also need to model after Him by resting. He shows us this in Genesis 2:3 by not only modeling resting to us, but blessing the rest also!
He also wants to lead us “in His footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to HIS name.” That’s it! Everything we do should always point back to our Father! Because in Him, we live, we move, and we exist (Acts 17:28); we have our identity. He wants for us to reflect Him to those in the world. To be like Christ. That includes rest! Let’s rest in Him, in His love, in His presence. We will find strength-renewing joy.
Action Steps:
Take a moment to listen to this song by Kari Jobe- Here and not only focus on the lyrics but allow God’s presence to renew your strength.
Prayer: Gracious Father, We thank You for Your Word. We thank You for showing us the mysteries that continue to unfold before us. You created us. You love us and show us that You want to be in our every moment. Help us to pause and rest. Help us to receive Your restoration, Your renewal. Let us interact daily. Melt away our doubts, our fears and anxiety. Pour out Your love. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
